Try Something New:
K-pop Photocard Trading and Decorating

Try Something New is a fictional on-campus event series that targets college-students at Sacramento State encouraging them to get out of their comfort zone and try a new activity. The posters designed are promoting the same event—K-pop photocard trading and decorating—using similar color palettes, but as separate identities with one focusing on image as the macrocomposition, and the other focusing on typography.

The concept of both posters are intended to encapsulate the subculture within K-pop that is collecting and “deco” culture which leans into a very soft, pastel, and overall cute aesthetic that allows individuals to reframe their collectible items as something personal that they can showcase, and hang on their bags opposed to just sitting on a shelf.
